Module 7: Supply Chain Management for the Public Sector

The unique characteristics of procurement in the public sector are explored in this Module. The Module examines a variety of public sector settings, including the federal government, provincial and municipal governments, as well as health care and education sectors. You will learn how to undertake competitive bidding in a public sector environment and evaluate alternatives such as sole sourcing and negotiation. The Module will explain the different forms of purchasing co-operatives and consortias. Ethical issues in public sector procurement are also examined. At the end of this Module, you will be able to understand the special supply chain challenges and opportunities in the supply chain sector and make recommendations for performance improvement.
